For the first time since the brand’s inception in 2016, Rothy’s is having a site-wide sale for Black Friday that includes all styles. Yes, the Points. Yes, the Almond Loafer. And yes, the Square Mary Jane. (Plus everything else, all up to 30 percent off.) I’m over-the-moon excited, because Rothy’s is my go-to brand for sustainable flats (they’re constructed from recycled materials like plastic bottles) that are machine-washable and incredibly comfortable.

A Quick Review of Rothy’s Mary Jane

I’m especially giddy about the Square Mary Jane, which quickly became my most-worn shoe this year. As someone who lived in those cheap-o Mary Jane flats that Urban Outfitters used to sell for like $50 (you can buy the exact same ones from Amazon for like $12
, LOL) between 2004 and 2012, my 30-something feet and wardrobe were past due for an upgrade. Like, expired. The Rothy’s Square Mary Jane, I rapidly learned, was everything I ever wanted in a Mary Jane flat: It was chic, comfortable, and low-maintenance. It also went with every outfit in my closet — I even wore the shoes to a live TV segment on KTLA News back in July (I wanted shoes that were comfortable, to avoid tripping and falling on TV, yet stylish, because TV).

Flexible and stretchy (yet still structured!), the Square Mary Jane requires zero break-in period. Its soles are made from natural rubber, and are nice and grippy to prevent falls. I’ve worn my MJs to work, on errands, on dog walks, and sometimes I even wear them around the house because I forget they’re still on. See below what they look like IRL in various scenarios!

So, if you get anything from Rothy’s, I would highly recommend the Mary Jane. However! The entire site is on sale! Go nuts! Get a couple pairs if you can! The Point II is my other favorite, and was actually the first Rothy’s shoe I ever bought. It’s made of the same material as the Mary Jane, so it’s flexible, soft, and extra breathable. And it’s also machine-washable, so if it gets stinky, you can easily wash it.

It’s the lug boot you know and love, but super sustainable. Made with merino wool, Rothy’s signature thread, these boots are water-resistant, so you can wear them in the rain and snow and sleet and still keep your feet warm and dry. Unlike so many boots we have in our closets, these ones are actually cushion-y and don’t make us want to go home after walking a few blocks.
