What is a Hasselback Potato?

The Hassel back potatoes are a type of roasted potato dish that is named after the restaurant in Hasselbacken at Stockholm in Sweden. It was introduced at the restaurant in the 1940s and was referred to as hasselbackspotatis.

Hassel back potatoes are simple and only involve cutting the potato half-through to look like an accordion or fan after roasting.

When finely chopped half-through and roasted well, the inside is buttery and soft while the outer part should be slightly crisp.

Already looking around for a potato? You will need a medium-size potato and an oval or oblong-shaped for a Hassel back potatoes side dish. This is because not all potato sizes and shapes are ideal for the recipe of this splendid side.
